About me:
I taught kids of many different ages through computer games in NYC. I am now a mom of 2 and have continued to enjoy finding out about new kids games as well as introducing my children to my old favorites. I will never recommend violent games. I always will try to recommend games that have some educational value. But most importantly ALL the games I recommend are lots of fun and entertaining for the whole family. I also maintain another blog on kids computer games.
Have your Kids Computer and Video Games Bond You Closer to Them - Not Separate You from Them
My children were born with parents that LOVE computer and video games. In fact when my husband and I met we both talked of hoping to develop children's software someday and my husband had already developed a math game for kids. In our house we use computer and video games as a way to bond with our children --- not separate us from them.
There was a study done recently that states that computer games helps parents bond with kids. The study was done by and the article written by Clement James, vnunet.com 29 Aug 2007 and states: "Computer games can help parents and grandparents bond with their children and grandchildren, according to new research". The study commissioned by games developer PopCap Games claims that 92 per cent of casual gaming parents and grandparents say such games provide an opportunity for them to bond with their children/grandchildren." When my kids receive a new game I am as excited as they are to check it out. From the computer adventure games that require us putting our heads together to figure out what does what and what comes next... To our new favorite; The Nintendo Wii which offers off the couch , moving around the room enjoyment -- we use video games bring us together. Our children are growing up with computer and video games as a part of their lives whether you are a fan of gaming or not. There are so many opportunities now to find games the whole family can enjoy and laugh and have fun while playing. I think it's important parents find out about the new wave of gaming and join their children and monitor what they are playing rather than leaving them alone to play games by themselves.
